
When Sebastian Vettel came to Aston Martin for the 2021 Formula 1 season, he was looking for a fresh start. Granted, Aston Martin didn’t have the best start to its first F1 campaign.

Fortunately, Vettel’s own form seems to have improved and the recently completed Monaco Grand Prix is evidence of that.

At some point during the race, Lewis Hamilton blinked first and pitted. Obviously he was trying to create an undercut and move the order up.
Unfortunately it backfired for the Mercedes driver and Pierre Gasly and Vettel caught him. Needless to say, Hamilton got angry on the radio in front of the team.

However, there was a nerve-wracking moment when Vettel left the pit lane when Gasly arrived at the scene. The Frenchman and the four-time world champion went wheel to wheel for a brief moment before Vettel made his way forward. In the end, Vettel held on and took the best 5th place of the season.

Sebastian Vettel confessed that it was pretty close between him and Gasly. He also said that he spoke to the AlphaTauri driver and that he did not know if Vettel saw him.
Although the Aston Martin driver gave Gasly enough space, he knew he had just put on fresh tires. In the end, Vettel came out just ahead of Gasly, enough to get him a position ahead of the French.
