In an exclusive interview with F1 Insider, Schumacher revealed a rumor that has been revolving around Aston Martin for weeks. When asked if Aston Martin could lead the field next season, the German wasn’t entirely sure if this was feasible, given the rumors.

“Yes and no. The problem is that the structures don’t change overnight. Rumor has it that a lot is happening in the background. There are some in the team who haven’t fully understood this redesign,” said Schumacher. “I always mention it nor Jordan. The many names before, after and in between, that’s all nonsense. “
Aston Martin may have had a terrible start to the 2021 season as it was unusually one of the slowest midfield teams on the grid. Since Monaco, however, it has been a glorious race to catch up for the team, in which Vettel has certainly pushed his car to its absolute limit.

Schumacher looked at the history of the Aston Martin outfit that traveled back to Jordan. Over the years, the outfit has managed to accomplish a lot with barely any money in hand.

Hence, Schumacher believed that Aston Martin would gradually lead the field over time, especially during the Lawrence Stroll acquisition, and money barely matters anymore.

“One thing is certain: They have always been a compact group that achieved a lot on a small budget. Suddenly there was money. But they weren’t picked up. Now you are bringing new people with you too. In Formula 1 it just won’t work in a year, ”he said.
