
After two weekends in 2021 when the sprint race was tried out, the fans are still not really convinced. The teams also don’t really know what they want. The sprint race has to be more exciting, but according to Toto Wollf, Otmar Szafnauer and Lando Norris, the reversed starting grid will not help.
How should things go on with the sprint races?
There are doubts about sprint races. Is it worth continuing with this in 2022 or is it a failed experiment? Various ways are suggested to make the format more attractive; Distribute more points or an inverted grid.
Formula1.de reports that Aston Martin team boss Szafnauer is against the latter idea: “I support what the fans want, but the idea of a reverse grid in F1 is very far from what the sport is about. Personally, I don’t I want this sprint race to be the same as in F2. “
