Red Bull seems to have secured its first "title" as early as 2021


Since the introduction of the new pit stop rules, Red Bull Racing has gone terribly wrong twice. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez both stopped once for more than six seconds, but the pit crew of the Austrian team was able to recover perfectly on the Istanbul Park course.

Max Verstappen’s car completed the fastest pit stop of the day. It only took the Red Bull team 2.15 seconds to mount four new intermediate tires on the RB16B. The time of 2.56 seconds on Perez’s car was also good. This pit stop was good for fifth place in the day’s standings.

Mercedes burns too

Mercedes’ pit stops at the Turkish Grand Prix were also lightning fast, but not as fast as Sebastian Vettel’s. The Aston Martin crew drove a time of 2.28 seconds. The pit stops by Hamilton and Bottas were the third and fourth fastest pit stops on Sunday.

Red Bull scored a total of 35 points for the DHL Fastest Pitstop rating. Mercedes collected 27 points and so the formation from Milton Keynes managed to run another eight points. With six races to go, Red Bull is already around 200 points ahead, so the first title of 2021 has already been unofficially determined.
