Perez backs Aston Martin F1 title ambitions

Sergio Perez has supported Lawrence Stroll in making his Formula 1 title winning ambitions a success with Aston Martin.

Perez was dropped from Stroll’s team, then Racing Point, late last year after billionaire entrepreneur hired Sebastian Vettel to compete alongside son Lance.

Stroll stated his desire to make Aston Martin a championship team within six years, an accomplishment that Perez believes can be achieved.

“A lot can happen in five years and I think Lawrence and his team are aware that in Formula 1 it can take a long time to be successful,” said Perez.

“You have very good people from Andrew [Green], from Ottmar [Szafnauer]… all senior members, all engineers there. You have very strong people. ”

Over the past few weeks, Stroll has added a number of senior executives to the team, and continuing that growth is something Perez believes is critical to future success.

“The question will be how quickly can you grow, how quickly can you integrate your entire team,” he added.

“But they certainly have very good people and I really hope they will stick together for many years because this team is strong and historically has been very strong because of the people and the unity of the team members.”
