No F1 title sponsor for Red Bull in 2021 after Aston Martin’s exit

Red Bull Formula 1 team boss Christian Horner says the team has no replacement for the outgoing title sponsor Aston Martin.

Following the takeover of Aston Martin by Racing Point owner Lawrence Stroll, the British luxury sports car manufacturer will concentrate on its newly renamed F1 team from 2021, leaving Red Bull without a title sponsor.

The Aston Martin logos have featured prominently on Red Bull’s cars since the title sponsorship deal began in 2018, but the deal will end later this year.

Horner confirmed that Red Bull has no plans to find a new title sponsor.

“We don’t have a title sponsor to replace Aston Martin for next year,” he said.

“We will have new sponsors who we will introduce next year. Aston Martin will of course not be on our car.

“We’ve enjoyed four years, three years as titles and four years with them on the car. We’ve helped drive the brand forward and we obviously have a great relationship with Valkyrie.”

“Obviously, our deals were built under former CEO Andy Palmer, who has always been hugely supportive to the team.

“And since Lawrence bought the business, it was obviously natural for them to get out. We look forward to seeing the Aston Martin name live in Formula 1 next year.”

Part of the Aston Martin connection resulted in a technical collaboration on the Valkyrie hypercar project, which Horner insisted will continue as planned despite the Aston Martin and Red Bull split.

“The car is running and we are doing all the tests,” he explained. “Of course, the relationship will last until all the cars have been completed by Red Bull Advanced Technologies.”
