As Sebastian Vettel’s struggles continue, he has shown that Aston Martin team-mate Lance Stroll is benefiting from a “different specification” this weekend in Portimao.
After falling behind Stroll’s pace in training on Friday, four-time world champion Vettel was asked if it was frustrating to be behind Stroll – whose father Lawrence owns the team.
“Not really,” he said to Sky Germany. “It has a slightly different specification this weekend that was clear in advance.
“I hope that he can take a step forward with it,” added Vettel.
Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher says this is not a new situation for the Silverstone-based team.
Vettel: “I didn’t feel well in the short term, atm it’s still difficult to put everything together. We tried a few things, but not yet achieved the best result. With all the things we’ve tried, I’m sure it will something for tomorrow. “# PortugueseGP pic.twitter.com/kzxMriWMZr

“We had that last year – Sergio Perez was upset because Lance had a completely different car,” he said.
“But it’s a small team, they don’t have the capacity, they want to save money first and see if it works. That sounds stupid to us, but Lance is also the fastest driver at the moment,” added Schumacher.
“At the moment he is the better driver with the better results and then the worse one has to take a back seat.”
The F1 legend Gerhard Berger, who is still a confidante of Vettel, told the newspaper Kolner Express: “After last season I told him (Vettel) to stop.”
“If I were in his position, I would be happy to have been four times world champion and sometimes to drive a classic rally or enjoy the other beautiful things that life has to offer,” he said.
Seb: Sometimes criticism is warranted, sometimes not. It doesn’t matter what outside people think. The people who are close to me and on the team, I always want their honest opinion. If it’s criticism, I have to deal with it, then I have to do it better “. # RTBF #Vettel pic.twitter.com/rvbjc6sLAY
