German driver Nico Hulkenberg started the year for Aston Martin by replacing Sebastian Vettel. Seb caught Covid-19 during the very start of the season and could not race.

The 34-year-old Hulk has not always produced the best results, and when he did, something was always there to spoil the party. Hulkenberg, regularly outpaced by Daniel Ricciardo, was dropped in favor of Esteban Ocon by Renault in 2019.

‘Eventful’ comeback for Nico Hulkenberg

However, he made a comeback in 2020 as a replacement for Sergio Perez. We have since known him as a ‘Super sub’ after producing point finishing performances. Nico recently made a post regarding his start this season. Moreover, he also managed a P17 and P12 at the Bahrain and Saudi GP, respectively.

The driver also gave a tough fight for the top 10 as he completed several overtakes and was even P9 at one point. Despite not having their star driver Vettel, Aston Martin tackled the negative start and relied on Hulk. Well, it was an achievement for Nico to have not been a part of testing and suddenly racing on the Jeddah Circuit without crashing.

Nico previously opened up about his comeback and revealed, “But it was fun being back in an F1 car, having the speed sensation and the G-force back. So I certainly enjoyed that, and look forward to the rest now.”

While explaining how the car feels different this year, he said, “I was surprised how different it is, the feel of the tires especially. So that took some time to get used to, and it will still do,”

“Obviously, driving the car is kind of always the same. But if you go into details, that’s where the differences are.”

“And I think for me, probably the biggest thing is the tyres, the feel of the tyres, the small sidewalls. It’s just the first time I’ve had the sensation of them, and I think that’s quite different.” He further added.

Well, fans really enjoyed Hulk’s return as he took the helms of an F1 car. Many want him back permanently, but this seems like a difficult prospect for now.
