Gasly remaining tight-lipped amid Alpine F1 left

Pierre Gasly insists “nothing has changed” regarding his Formula 1 future amid reports linking him with a move to Alpine for 2023.

It recent days Gasly has emerged as a candidate to fill the Alpine seat vacated by Fernando Alonso when the two-time world champions joins Aston Martin next year.

The speculation comes despite Gasly being announced as an AlphaTauri driver earlier this year and having a contract with the team until the end of the 2023 season.

But Alpine is understood to be considering making a move to try and get Gasly out of his existing deal, which would see him leave the Red Bull fold.

Speaking at the Dutch Grand Prix on Thursday, Gasly remained tight-lipped on the matter, saying his future remains unchanged.

“I said it last week, for next year currently, I’m contracted for AlphaTauri,” Gasly said, as quoted by Motorsport.com.

“Everybody is aware of my contract situation. For now, nothing has changed.”

Asked if Red Bull had spoken to him about his link to Alpine, Gasly replied: “I don’t feel like commenting anything for the moment.

“I’m with AlphaTauri, I’m giving my best to AlphaTauri as long as I’ll be driving for this team. They gave me my first seat in Formula 1, they gave me my first victory.

“For now, I don’t feel like commenting anything. As long as I’m driving for this team, I’ll always give my 110%.”

Talk of Gasly’s potential switch to Alpine was accelerated after a clip from a Ferrari video at Spa emerged on social media featuring the one-time grand prix winner.

In the video, Gasly was heard talking to Charles Leclerc and George Russell as they walked to the drivers’ parade, and said: “I’m still working on the final details of the contract.”

This was interpreted as a hint he was close to agreeing terms with Alpine, but Gasly quickly shut down the speculation.

“If you guys would have any idea of the subject we were talking about, you’ll probably laugh,” Gasly said.

“I can guarantee you, it was nothing related to Formula 1.”
