Formula 1 | Aston Martin F1 left itself ‘a small development budget’ for the AMR22

Aston Martin F1 is unlikely to continue developing the 2022 car, according to team performance director Tom McCullough.

Earlier in 2022, the Silverstone-based team was accused of unveiling a major development that transformed the AMR22 into a “green Red Bull”.

But Sebastian Vettel, who will be replaced by Fernando Alonso next year, is unlikely to get any other major upgrades for the rest of his F1 career.

“We left ourselves a small development budget,” explains McCullough.

« But we have already developed a lot and changed the car a lot. Development of the car for 2023 is already well underway. »

« It is possible to develop a few more parts like fins, but it costs a lot of money so we can wait to find the right things. »

« With budgets capped now, it’s a simple matter of value for money in performance. »
