Formula 1 | Aston Martin F1: A ‘deserved’ point in France which ‘brings confidence for Hungary’

Aston Martin F1: A deserved point

If Aston Martin F1 brought back only one point from the French Grand Prix, it can be satisfied with a good race from its drivers, Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel, who did not finish so far from McLaren and Alpines after remaining close to each other throughout the race

Mike Krack, the director of the team based at Silverstone, is thus satisfied with the point brought back by the Canadian pilot and thinks that the performance of Paul Ricard, a priori unfavorable to the AMR22, is a good omen for the Grand Prix of Hungary which will take place this weekend.

« Lance had a great start from 15th and quickly found himself 11th, just behind Sebastian who was 10th. Lance then passed him on that same lap and they stayed close together for the whole race. »

« We chose a one-stop strategy for our two drivers, but we didn’t want to take the risk of a double stop when the safety car overtook caused by Charles Leclerc’s accident. stands was very full at the time and we didn’t want to hold Sebastian back for too long. »

« Despite the tire degradation in the final third of the race, Lance drove well to hold on to 10th and score a deserved point, with Sebastian finishing just behind him. A double points finish would have been a nice result, but it wasn’t. not for this time. Despite that, our race pace was decent and the reliability was good, which gives us confidence for the Hungaroring, which should suit us better than Paul Ricard. »

« Finally, on behalf of the entire team, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jake Pedley, one of our 18-year-old apprentices who tragically lost his life in an accident off the road last Tuesday. »
