Formula 1 | Alesi: Vettel stops F1 ‘at the right time’ to drive elsewhere

Alesi: Vettel stops F1

Jean Alesi doesn’t think Sebastian Vettel is done with motorsport. The Aston Martin F1 driver will leave Formula 1 at the end of the season, but the former driver sees the quadruple world champion convert behind the wheel.

“He did it at the right time” explained Alesi to GiveMeSport. « He’s a four-time world champion, he’s highly respected in F1 by all the drivers and that means a lot. But he’s quite young, so I believe we’ll see him back in a race car fairly soon. »

Alesi is also happy that Fernando Alonso has decided to stay in F1, and thinks Vettel’s replacement could manage to win more world titles despite his age: « Absolutely. He has the talent. »

« Yes, the cars are very demanding in terms of G-force, but Fernando never quit. When he wasn’t in Formula 1 he raced in sports cars, and he’s always in a car, so I I’m sure he can do it. »

« However, I don’t think winning a world championship for a team like Aston will happen next year. I understand there is a new investor in Aston Martin and he is very ambitious. »

« The ambition is very high. So I hope he made a good choice this time, because sometimes he made mistakes in his life. But finishing his career with a good shot would be a very good story for all of us. »
