Mercedes versus Red Bull

Due to the weather conditions, it was not an easy qualifying for the drivers. Verstappen appeared to bet the first time in the third quarter, but due to route restrictions, he had deleted that time. In the following rounds, the Dutchman could neither beat Lewis Hamilton nor Valtteri Bottas.

“Once Verstappen is champion, the rivalry will only increase.”

The Mercedes cars turned out to be the strongest in qualifying. While Bottas took care of P1 with a time of 1: 18: 348, Hamilton was just a little slower. The Englishman set a time of 1:18:355, which meant that he had to settle for second place. The Mercedes driver has to keep an eye on Verstappen in the first corner.

It’s just as exciting behind the top three. Pérez drove an excellent lap in the third quarter and will start the race in fourth place. Carlos Sainz, Esteban Ocon, Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc are all behind it. Pierre Gasly and Sebastian Vettel complete the top ten.

It’s still early, but the four best drivers in the championship standings are currently fighting for four different teams. Bottas and Perez are expected to work their way up the rankings, but we continue to assume that Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc will compete against each other all season to get the most out of their resting position. Ferrari and McLaren will renew their rivalry in 2021.

Pierre Gasly looked strong in his AlphaTauri but only scored six points in the two races. Aston Martin looked much better at Imola, but Sebastian Vettel has yet to score a point for his new team.
