Alpine is fighting for fifth place in the constructors’ championship with Aston Martin and AlphaTauri. The French are currently in seventh place with 40 points, eight and nine points behind AlphaTauri and Aston Martin. However, their driver Esteban Ocon believes the team has what it takes to finish fifth ahead of their rivals.

Although the team has shifted its focus to developing the 2022 car, the French team would very much like to finish as much as possible. Ocon believes they finally have a competitive car to compete for points more often.

Our strength will probably be our fighting spirit: Esteban Ocon
As Motorsport reports, the Frenchman made the team more determined and stronger, not being able to fight for points more consistently.
“I think our strength will probably be our fighting spirit because we are not always the fastest in this group,” admitted Ocon.

“AlphaTauri was a little faster than us. Aston Martin is also pretty fast and makes us difficult in most places. But we will fight them to the end.
“And it will only be the one who scores consistently throughout the year, point by point, who takes fifth place. There is still a long way to go. So we’re ready to fight, ”said the Frenchman.

Ocon named the Hungaroring as one of his favorite routes on the calendar and said he was looking forward to racing again in Budapest.
“It’s a track that I really enjoy.”

“There are many combinations of corners. Tires will be very important to be right. And yes, tire usage, confidence in the car, all of that will be extremely important.
“So hopefully we can get the maximum out of there and get a few more points,” said Ocon.
