Formula 1 will have two official safety cars this season as Aston Martin will be supplying safety and medical cars for the championship for the first time in history – along with Mercedes, who have changed the paintwork of their AMG cars from silver to red.
Aston Martin is back in F1 for the first time in more than 60 years and after showing the world their AMR21 competitor, they have now demonstrated the Vantage Safety Car and the DBX Medical Car. The pair will make their debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix season opener.
The racing green Vantage Safety Car is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that reaches a speed of 0 to 60 km / h in 3.5 seconds and temperatures are sufficient.

The DBX Medical Car reaches a speed of 0 to 60 km / h in 4.5 seconds with 550 hp and 700 Nm torque from the same engine as the Vantage, with a defibrillator, fire extinguishers and a combustion kit to respond to medical emergencies.
Mercedes, who have been supplying the official Safety Cars since 1996 (and have been sharing Safety Car appearances for the first time since then), looks new this season with their AMG GT R Safety Car and the red-clad C 63 S Estate Medical Car, a synonym for the Rote Sau racing car from the German brand.
Bernd Maylander will drive both Aston Martin and Mercedes Safety Cars, with Alan van der Merwe taking over the helm of the Medical Cars.
The AMG GT R has a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and reaches a speed of 0 to 62 km / h in 3.6 seconds. Like the DBX, the C 63 S Estate is equipped with medical devices in accordance with FIA specifications.
