Aston Martin has confirmed that despite the transition from the Silverstone-based outfit to a new identity, BWT will remain a partner of the team in 2021.
BWT became title sponsor of the squad in 2017 when it traded under the name Force India and stayed on board in mid-2018 when Lawrence Stroll took over the outfit and renamed it Racing Point.
Earlier this year, Aston Martin confirmed technology company Cognizant as the new title sponsor for the 2021 campaign.
As part of the BWT title sponsor contract, Force India / Racing Point had a clear pink paint job. Although the Austrian water company remains a partner until 2021, Aston Martin has assured that its paintwork will have a new base color, which is expected to be green.
Since the fresh paintwork should look “completely different” according to the team, it is said that “subtle BWT brand accents and BWT brand logos will remain a feature”.
“Our friends at BWT have been loyal supporters of this team and I am delighted that they have decided to become a partner of the Aston Martin F1 team,” said team principal Otmar Szafnauer.
“BWT will support our efforts to become more sustainable in all business areas, but especially in our trackside activities – a goal that is in line with Formula 1’s own sustainability goals.
“This is a strong and historic partnership that enters an important new era and we are all excited to see what we can achieve together.”
Aston Martin will unveil its 2021 car, the AMR21, on March 3rd.
At the beginning of the team’s last era, Lance Stroll kept it for a third season and, after six years at Ferrari, brought in four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel.
