Aston Martin's Lance Stroll facilitated off-track exploits didn't end the Monaco GP

Lance Stroll experienced quite a roller coaster race at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Canadian driver was seen jumping hard on the curbs. And many fans were furious when television cameras were cut off from the racing action to show reruns of Stroll at the pool exit, and twice. However, that’s a whole different story, even though people are still crazy about it.

To make matters worse for the Canadian, the second curb jump ended up locking off the inner barrier. The last person to do that was an unhappy Charles Leclerc in qualifying who ruined his suspension. The Aston Martin driver definitely dodged a bullet and lived to keep fighting in the race.

With the help of an unusual strategy, namely a long opening phase on the hard tire, he finished eighth. To make things even sweeter for Aston Martin, teammate Sebastian Vettel took the best fifth place of the season.

“It messed up my brain a bit!” Strolling said. “I was a bit surprised. I thought my day would actually be over after the second. The first one that I somehow managed to save, but the second one, I had a big punch inside. And usually we all know how it ends when you get a big punch inside, so I was pretty lucky.

“I used up my jokers there.”

What else did Lance Stroll say?

The 22-year-old confessed that he had some concerns about starting with the tough tires. This would have meant he lost some ground while getting his tires up to temperature. Fortunately, he was able to get off to a good start and keep up with the soft tire runners.

“So all in all, it wasn’t as bad as I expected or as difficult as I expected at the beginning.”

Since this was Monaco, he and Aston Martin naturally prayed for a safety car. Fortunately, Lance Stroll managed to get an overlap against Esteban Ocon and Antonio Giovinazzi. Of course, he was sweating a little when he was examined for crossing the line at the exit of the pit.
