Is this year’s Formula 1 going to be exciting, I hear you ask?
We say a resounding yes, not because last year was predictably boring in comparison, but because there will be a lot to expect on the tracks in 2021.
For example, the inaugural edition of the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix will take place at the Jeddah Street Circuit as the second full night race after Singapore, while Renault has changed shape for 2021 to get the Alpine name, followed by two-time champion Fernando Alonso the bike after two seasons out of the sport.
The Aston Martin Safety Car.
The most radical award, however, goes to Aston Martin, who is not only returning to the race as a Formula 1 team for the first time since 1960, but is also given the sacred responsibility of being the official safety car.
This triumphant return, as you can imagine, is not without celebration. In addition to new cars on the grid, the manufacturer has also presented a new street sports car that is thoroughly inspired by the safety car.
This exclusive ride, dubbed the F1 Edition, while not an exact replica, has numerous similarities that will captivate fans of both the brand and the sport. On the outside, the street-legal version will have the same racing green as the race car and safety car, although Jet Black and Lunar White will also be available for those trying to be more discreet. Regardless of your choice, the paintwork displays an optional matte dark gray racing graphic in the center, drawing attention to other exciting and sporty details like the grille, carbon fiber bits, 21-inch satin black wheels, and quad exhausts.
You won’t get a roll cage in, however. In contrast to Bernd Maylander’s new company car with commercial vehicle drive, the interior of this car is well equipped with luxurious details such as the new Phantom Gray Alcantara paneling or the leather Obsidian Black. Since the British brand attaches great importance to individuality, you can personalize your interior with accents in lime green, spice red, wolf gray or obsidian black and contrasting stitching. Everything else remains true to the safety car, which will tear down the tracks in the coming year – except of course the light strip.
Inside, this Vantage is the most different from your regular ones. Under the bonnet, Aston Martin cranked up the 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 to extract another 24 hp and bring the total output to 527 hp. All of this is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission that directs the power to the rear. The revised chassis and the new dampers also promise better control and better handling, whether you are on the track yourself or just driving through the city streets. The driving behavior and the sporty stature of the car are completed by larger 21-inch Pirelli wheels.
If all those nips and tucks aren’t doing enough for you, there’s also an F1 Edition-specific aerodynamics package that Aston Martin engineers have been working on. Expect add-ons that range from a full-width front splitter to front submersibles to underbody rotary wings and a massive rear wing. Together, these add an additional 440 pounds of downforce to the vehicle.
Delivery of both the Coupé and the Roadster Aston Martin F1 Edition is expected to begin in May of this year. This gives you plenty of time to get the rest of your racing gear.
