Just a week after Aston Martin announced that Red Bull’s aerodynamics boss Dan Fallows would join the team as the new technical director after his current contract expired, it has now announced that Alessi has also been captured.
Alessi’s new role at Aston Martin will include leading the team’s aerodynamics division. He starts working for the team on Thursday.
Aston Martin Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer said: “Two weeks ago we announced the hiring of Luca Furbatto as our new Engineering Director who will work for us in due course.
“Last week also announced the upcoming arrival of Dan Fallows as our new Technical Director. Today Andrew Alessi is added to our impressive list of senior technical / technical recruitments as Head of Technical Operations. We are a great team and it has been always.
“This year we have often said, ‘This team has always hit over their weight; now they have the weight to hit harder.’
“That is absolutely true – and experienced and experienced newcomers like Luca, Dan and now Andrew are proof that we are building the technical-technical strength in the depth that we need to deliver that tougher blow.”

Alessi said his decision to leave Red Bull and join Aston Martin came from his belief that the Silverstone-based team laid the foundations for success.
“Like everyone in and around Formula 1, I saw and was impressed the obvious ambition of the team I am joining, which is now led by Lawrence Stroll, and I am really looking forward to working with Otmar Szafnauer and the very competent team , technical and engineering-oriented members of the senior management team, “he explained.
“Now is a fantastic time to join a rapidly growing team and I am ready to jump right in to contribute to the significant aerodynamic and operational improvements we need to consistently win the future.”
