Aston Martin Cognizant has signed a multi-year contract with the cloud software and data management company Netapp to prepare the Formula 1 team for the 2021 season.

Netapp data is used on and off the track to help Aston Martin make strategic decisions, measure performance and refine the car. Netapp also guarantees data security and full compliance with the team’s intellectual property.

The collaboration is designed to lower Aston Martin’s IT investment costs, and these funds can potentially be reinvested in the team.

“Formula 1 teams have always been pioneers in analyzing data to gain a competitive advantage, especially when milliseconds mean the difference between pole position and starting somewhere in the middle of the field,” said Otmar Szafnauer, Chief Officer and Team boss.

“By equipping our brilliant team with industry-leading data solutions from NetApp, we are ushering in a new era of racing where we can constantly evolve to become a faster, smarter and more exciting team.”

The eagerly anticipated Formula 1 season 2021 begins on March 26th at the Bahrain International Circuit
