Alfa Romeo fined for unsafe release of Giovinazzi

Alfa Romeo fined for unsafe release of Giovinazzi

Antonio Giovinazzi faces the stewards after causing two incidents during the third free practice session in Hungary. In the pit lane he almost collided with Lance Stroll, shortly afterwards Pierre Gasly had to avoid him on a fast lap.

After the session was interrupted by a crash by Mick Schumacher, there were only eight minutes left on the clock, so all the drivers were in a hurry to get onto the track during further training.

Giovinazzi and Stroll in collision in the pit lane

The Alfa Romeo drivers didn’t pay too much attention to the situation, however, as Giovinazzi was dispatched as Stroll approached. The Aston Martin driver hit the front wing of Giovinazzi lightly, but a dramatic crash was avoided. However, the Italian must answer to the stewards for the incident, as does a representative of the team.

A little later, the Alfa Romeo driver was involved in another incident: he got in Gasly’s way during a fast lap. The AlphaTauri driver had to deviate from the route and was visibly dissatisfied with Giovinazzi, who also has to answer the commissioners for this incident.
