Who should Alfa Romeo sign for the 2022 F1 season?

Although the Formula 1 driver transfer market is colloquially referred to as the silly season, most moves in preparation for 2022 were concentrated in the first half of last week. Given the brevity of the UK summer, it might count as a season after all.

In retrospect, Alfa Romeo cemented Valtteri Bottas’ commitment for the first time after Kimi Räikkönen officially announced his long overdue retirement from Formula 1. That preceded George Russell’s long-awaited move to Mercedes, who then opened the door to Williams to sign Alex Albon. Apart from the Aston Martin seats, which Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll are supposed to occupy in the event of the unexpected, only one seat remains unoccupied – an Alfa throne without a steward.
