Usually, Kimi Raikkonen is known for his very short and gruff interviews. At the Spanish Grand Prix 2021, however, the Finnish veteran went a little off track, so to speak, and his interview was a little longer than usual. Behind him, Red Bull driver Sergio Perez was waiting for his turn.

The Alfa Romeo driver spoke to Sky Sports while Perez patiently waited for his turn. After the 41-year-old left, the Mexican joked, “He’s been talking longer than I thought.” Well, it looks like the Red Bull driver knows Raikkonen’s reputation as a person who is very open and to the point.

Granted, the two drivers had pretty good races at the Spanish Grand Prix. The Mexican rider made up eighth place in qualifying and jumped to fifth place. In the meantime, the Finnish veteran and world champion from 2007 landed in twelfth place, just short of a point.

What can you expect from Kimi Raikkonen and Sergio Perez?

This coming weekend, the F1 paddock will visit the Monte Carlo street circuit in Monaco. Both drivers are already familiar with the track and have made it onto the podium a few times. However, Perez is the only one of the two who has a realistic chance of getting on the podium. This is because he drives for Red Bull, the second strongest team on the F1 grid.

Meanwhile, Raikkonen’s Alfa Romeo is at best a midfield car. However, a good qualifying and a well executed strategy could lead to fruitful points. You shouldn’t ignore his team-mate Antonio Giovinazzi either, as he really made himself his own under Raikkonen.

At the other end of the spectrum, Sergio Perez is under some pressure. When he joined the Red Bull team, he was supposed to keep up with his team-mate Max Verstappen. Unfortunately, he has struggled to live up to expectations and Red Bull has been known to have very high expectations.
