The 2007 world champion, Kimi Raikkonen, hasn’t had much luck with drinks since joining Formula 1. The Finn is constantly in a situation in which the water pipe becomes detached from his helmet and there is no liquid available to him during the entire race.

A similar story happened at the Monaco Grand Prix earlier this season in May, when Raikkonen had to get through the entire race without ingesting a drop of liquid. Well, the good news is that after waiting over a month, Raikkonen finally got his drink.

Minttu Raikkonen used social media to reveal a video of her husband Kimi holding a glass of drink. And Kimi ended up sharing the same thing through his Instagram handle, but managed to come up with an incredibly hilarious caption.

“Yes, I had it,” he wrote amusingly, indicating that he finally managed to quench the thirst that had haunted him since the Monaco race.

Before the race in Monaco, Raikkonen last experienced a similar circumstance in 2018 at the Hungarian GP. Kimi longed to have a drink during the race, only to hear a “no” from his race engineer at Ferrari.

He said, “No, Kimi. You won’t have the drink. ”It later emerged that the Ferrari crew had forgotten to connect the water pipe. Nevertheless, Kimi drove his heart out to secure a podium place on the Hungaroring, only behind his teammate Sebastian Vettel and the eventual world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Raikkonen’s bad luck with drinks continues …

Raikkonen’s tale of suffering with drinks recently surfaced during the Monaco race. The Finn never told the team that his aqueduct had been loosened.

After the race, however, Raikkonen turned to team radio to solve the problem. He told his race engineer that the drinking tube had already come off on the warm-up lap. He went on to claim that he had tried his best to reconnect the pipe, but to no avail.

“One more thing: that damn drinking pipe came off again during the introductory lap. And that damn filter was behind my back the whole race. So I don’t know how. It was so difficult to get it hooked up properly, ”he said.

Overall, given Raikkonen’s terrible drinks over the years, there is a wide range of chances that this scenario could repeat itself in the future. So will Alfa Romeo be able to avoid that? Only time can tell.
