Theo Pourchaire pleased with FP1 outing in United States

Theo Pourchaire drives in practice at the US Grand Prix

Theo Pourchaire was pleased with the hour of running he got in during FP1 for Alfa Romeo at the United States Grand Prix on Friday afternoon.

Pourchaire was one of several rookie drivers to get a feel for an official formula 1 session on Friday, with him joining Alex Palou, Logan Sargeant and Robert Shwartzman out on track.

He had a clean session without major incident, too, with plenty of laps recorded and he’ll be looking forward to using that experience as motivation for getting into F1 in the future.

Of course, next season there isn’t a spot for him but there is a feeling that he has every chance of getting into F1 in due course, with him also the reserve driver for Alfa Romeo from 2023 onwards.

Speaking after the session, Pourchaire said on Friday:

“It was a good session, we did quite a lot of laps,” he said. “There was a red flag [following Antonio Giovinazzi’s crash] at the beginning so it compromised us, a bit, at the start of the session.

“But all good, good laps. I did some mistakes, I tried to push the limits and understand some things.”

Positive for Pourchaire, then, and he’ll be itching to get back into the car as soon as possible.
