The injured F2 racing driver Juan Manuel Correa will drive for Alfa Romeo in the Virtual Grand Prix on Sunday

F2 racing driver Juan Manuel Correa will make his first official outing with the Alfa Romeo team since his life-changing crash at Spa last August. The Ecuadorian-American driver is ready to return to the virtual cockpit for the Swiss team at this weekend’s Chinese Virtual Grand Prix.

Just days after the team’s first test of an F1 car, Sauber Junior driver Correa was involved in a multi-car accident at the Formula 2 feature race at Spa last year that led to the tragic death of Anthoine Hubert Correa had one Spine injury and extensive leg damage that required major surgery and from which he is still recovering.

After setting up a Twitch account during the coronavirus lockdown, Correa was able to participate in a number of esports events before it was revealed that he will be partnering with Alfa Romeo F1 driver Antonio Giovinazzi for the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday. April 19th.

“We’re really excited to be back in the cockpit for @alfaromeoracing this Sunday,” tweeted Correa, featuring F1 driver Charles Leclerc from Ferrari, Alex Albon from Red Bull, Lando Norris from Red Bull and Williams with George Russell and Nicholas will attend Latifi.

The Chinese virtual Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, April 19, at 1700 UTC – with the broadcast on F1.com as well as the official YouTube, Twitch, Weibo and Facebook channels of Formula 1.
