The Bachelorette hits another embarrassing low – as it turns out Brooke Blurton got a HUGE payday to become the first queer and indigenous lead role

The ratings for The Bachelorette have hit another embarrassing new low, despite Channel 10 taking big bucks for lead actress Brooke Blurton.

After the show premiered last week with the lowest ratings in franchise history, the show slipped even further on Wednesday, reaching only 253,000 underground viewers.

It’s the worst-rated episode of any part of the franchise, which includes The Bachelor and Bachelor In Paradise.

The show’s core audience, ages 16 to 39, had also decreased 47% on the subway and 41% nationally, compared to last week’s premiere.

This season of The Bachelorette made history with the cast of Blurton, the show’s first indigenous and queer lead role.

She also has male and female admirers competing for her affection, which is a first for the bachelor franchise in the world.

Perhaps because of her groundbreaking casting, Brooke was reportedly paid a whopping $ 250,000 for the season.

Despite poor viewership, the executives at Channel 10’s parent company stand by their editorial decision to prioritize inclusivity at all costs.

Jarrod Villani, the executive vice president of ViacomCBS ANZ, told TV Tonight that ViacomCBS has a strict “no diversity, no commission” policy.

“I think this reflects the decision that was made around Brooke and The Bachelorette,” said Mr. Villani.

“It is run by the top of our organization around the world,” he continued.

“You will not have a conversation with anyone at ViacomCBS – regardless of where we are in the world – that does not have a focus on diversity and inclusion.”

Mr Villani also said 2021 is the “right time” for a bisexual bachelorette.

“It might have been more difficult in the past, I think, but given the environment we are in now and given the expectations of the Australians, I think the time is right,” he said.

‘More important, [Brooke] is the right person because she really is. I think people know that and believe you. ‘

The ratings for this season of The Bachelorette have just gotten worse.

But Channel 10 still insists that it is the most critically acclaimed season of all time, despite having the lowest rating in the history of the franchise.

A promo posted on Sunday said, “It’s The Bachelorette’s Most Critically-Acclaimed Series of All Time.”
