Calderon, who remains on the Alfa Romeo Formula One team’s books as a test and development driver, will be Sebastien’s # 14 Dallara-Chevrolet on Tuesday, July 6th, after this weekend’s Mid-Ohio IndyCar race Pilot Bourdais.
The chance comes thanks to ROKiT, the main sponsor of the car with the starting number 14, which also supports the 28-year-old Colombian racing driver in the Super Formula.
Calderon said: “I am very excited and grateful to the ROKiT AJ Foyt Racing Team for this incredible opportunity. I started my single-seater career in the USA [in Star Mazda, now Indy Pro 2000] and it has always been a dream to one day drive an Indy car.
“I’m sure it will be a big challenge and I can’t wait to get the experience of driving through Mid-Ohio on Tuesday, learning about the car and enjoying the chance to see one of the fastest racing cars in the world drive. “
Calderon has no IndyCar experience, but has tested Alfa Romeo F1 machines several times, in addition to her single-seater campaigns in the Super Formula, which she has been driving in since last year, and in Formula 2.
AJ Foyt Racing Team President Larry Foyt added: “We look forward to having Tatiana in the ROKiT Chevrolet! She has a lot of experience with open wheels in various formula cars so I am very keen to hear her feedback after driving an Indy car.
“After the race weekend the car setup should be in a good place where she can focus on driving and learning the car. I think she will really enjoy it.”
