As a norm, all the F1 teams have to pay a considerable amount to reserve their places on the F1 grid every season. These entry fees for each team in a season are based on their overall results from the previous season. Accordingly, Mercedes and Red Bull, which were the two most dominant teams in 2021, have to pay the highest sum to lock their spot on the grid.

As per Motorsport.com, the Brackley-based team will have to pay around $4.6 million as an entry fee. Meanwhile, their closest rival Red Bull will spend $3.8 million to enter the next championship. According to F1 Regulations, all teams must pay a fixed fee of $556,509 to the FIA in order to qualify for the championship. They pay an additional $5,563 for each point earned in the championship. Moreover, the constructors’ championship-winning team, Mercedes in this case, pays $6,677 per point.
So, Mercedes finished at 613.5 points in the season, so they will pay $6,677 per point along with the basic amount. This comes down to $4.62 million. Meanwhile, Red Bull, with 585 points in their bank, will pay $5,563 per point besides the basic fee, bringing the number close to $3.81 million. Now, after the top two teams, Ferrari will pay the highest among the rest.

The Maranello team pipped McLaren to win the midfield battle, finishing 3rd in the standings, with 323.5 points. They will spend close to $2.3 million, followed by the rival McLaren team which will pay $2 million (275 championship points).

The discussion doesn’t stop here. While some teams are paying amounts that exceed their previous ones, others are paying less than the last season. As mentioned earlier, the amount is directly linked to the previous season’s performance. Teams like Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Alpha Tauri, Williams, and Alfa Romeo which performed better than their last season will pay a heftier sum than they did in 2021.
Meanwhile, Haas F1 Team, which struggled till the end to open their points tally, will have to pay $29,872 less than the previous year. Alpine is almost at par with their last payment, with a minor difference of 180 dollars. Mercedes have taken the biggest jump among all, as they will pay $169,950 extra this season.
