However, the German driver recently mentioned that he has not yet signed with the team for the next season. In 2022, F1 will introduce new regulations and new cars to bring racing closer. This change could prove beneficial for midfield teams like Aston Martin.

I never talked about my contractual events: Sebastian Vettel
As reported by Motorsport. The Aston Martin driver said he had never discussed his contract negotiations publicly and did not plan to start now.
“I still can’t tell you anything, and I have never spoken about my contractual events. You’ll know something soon, ”said Vettel about his contract extension with Aston Martin.

Although it’s very unlikely that Seb won’t sign an extension with the team for the 2022 season. But the Silverstone-based team should also draft their Plan-B in case Vettel comes to an end.
Aston Martin won’t be surprised if Vettel announces his departure from the team. But surprisingly, there will be some prominent options for the team at this event.

Daniel Ricciardo also joined McLaren earlier this year. But his season did not go as expected as he struggled to match his teammate’s pace this season. So there is a chance the Australian driver could switch from McLaren to Aston Martin if Seb Vettel leaves the team.

Apart from the honey badger, Nico Hulkenberg would be the most obvious choice. The German driver is the team’s official reserve driver and knows them well, having previously driven for them under various brand names.
Robert Kubica would be another option for the Silverstone team, but it’s very unlikely. Kubica currently represents Raikkonen at Alfa Romeo, but has dropped out of the sport. He’s being considered, but not at the top of Aston’s wish list.
