Kimi Raikkonen is likely to have his final season in 2021. The Finnish driver is jumping into the Alfa Romeo cockpit for his 20th stint in F1 and plans to leave on a high level. He had hoped 2020 would be competitive but soon realized that the car wasn’t enough.

With the new regulations, however, there is a new zeal in him.
The 2007 Ferrari champion is a sensation in F1. Although he has little for awards compared to Schumacher and Hamilton, his presence on the track is enough to maintain his image. He is one of the cleanest drivers in F1 and has inspired several others to take up the sport. However, his final years at Alfa Romeo seem to have demotivated him.

The Iceman recently broke the Barrichello record for most race starts and was also named “Action of the Year” this season. However, his goal was to get back on the podium and he failed drastically. There have been a couple of promising stints on his part, but the lack of pace put him off the points table.
“Obviously the hopes were higher. But we all realized pretty quickly that it wasn’t going to be the way we wanted it to be. We just have to work and try to do better this year. It is just the way it is. “

Kimi’s best results this year would be the two P9s, which earned him his decisive four points. He ended up in P16 in the drivers’ table, just above his teammate, with similar points.
He recently spoke about the 2020 season concerns affecting his pace and performance.
“Certainly it’s not what we expected or wanted before the season and I think after the tests it became clear that we weren’t where we wanted to be,” remarked Kimi.
The iceman doesn’t lose its cool easily, and even in this case it hasn’t. Still, he was grumpy.
“Not frustrated, but of course it’s far from what we wanted.”

He could understand that her car just wasn’t one of the competition. In all fairness, they couldn’t collect much more than fighting with Haas and Willams. Still, he pushed on, even though he knew it was useless.
“To be honest, I think even if we get the most out of our cars, if everyone pushes the limit, we won’t be in the top 10. The speed is just not there. And that is the case on most of the routes, ”emphasized the 40-year-old.

Kimi is leaving all that behind and preparing for a new era of motorsport again. He will look forward to making the most of the new regulations and fighting as hard as his car allows. Alfa Romeo is showing signs of optimism and hopefully the iceman will take advantage of the weaknesses in the other teams’ wells.

“Good or bad, I think you have disappointing results and good results and something in between every year. But that’s part of the game, ”concluded Raikkonen.
His mentality is his greatest strength and he will leave everyone behind with it. This is exactly why he is so highly valued in the paddock.
