So it’s not surprising that the former Force India and Renault driver might have hoped to make something out of this mess. The German also recently reiterated his interest in several teams, including Alfa Romeo and Williams.
However, since the latter option was tightly closed after the signing of Alex Albon, the German had invested all his hopes in the Italian team. But it looks like the 34-year-old has come to the end of the street. Hülkenberg has officially confirmed that he will not take part in the F1 starting field in 2022.

What did Nico Hulkenberg say?
In an interview with BILD, the German revealed that he is currently not in talks with Alfa Romeo. Therefore, for the third season in a row, Hulkenberg has nowhere to go, as the entire starting line-up is almost set.
“There are no talks with Alfa Romeo. That would have been the last option for a permanent seat in 2022 after all other cockpits are occupied, ”he said.

Hulkenberg was one of Red Bull’s options last season after scoring staggering results at Silverstone and Nürburgring despite the lack of running on the track. But unfortunately that was as far as he succeeded.
No teams have contacted Hulkenberg for his services. And when you consider that he is already 34 years old and that much younger and faster drivers appear as competitors for a seat, Hulkenberg’s F1 career is as good as over.
Hulkenberg looking for options outside of Formula 1?
The “Hulk” still feels the urge to race, even though the doors to F1 are as good as sealed. The fact that he had 179 starts in Formula 1 has started to put on racing outfits from other series.

As a result, Hülkenberg also confirmed that he would rate a change to other racing series rather than sulking about the current lack of opportunities in F1. “Life goes on,” he said.

“I have exciting inquiries from other series and I’m in no hurry to make a decision. I’ll sort everything and see how it goes on. “

Overall, it looks like Hulkenberg will wait until mid-2022 and see if he could find an opening in Formula 1. If it really doesn’t work, then we could finally see Hülkenberg in other racing series such as Indy, WEC or even DTM. What do you think is the right goal for Germans?
