
There is only one seat left on the F1 grid for 2022 with Alfa Romeo to decide who will work with Bottas.
Chinese rider Guanyu Zhou is the leading contender for the second Alfa seat, while his alpine junior colleague Piastri is also in the frame.
Piastri currently leads the F2 standings ahead of Zhou with two laps left.
The Australian is currently part of Alpine’s drivers’ academy but the French team has banned Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso for next year.
Speaking at Istanbul Park on Friday, Vasseur didn’t reveal too much when asked about the team’s plans for the next year.

Due to Piastri’s association with Alpine, Vasseur doesn’t see why he should move to another team as they have invested a lot in his junior career.
“Oscar has been doing a very good job over the last few weekends, he has done well and been consistent, but as far as I know he’s connected to Alpine,” he added.
“To be honest, I haven’t talked to Alpine about it, but if you’re investing in a driver with a long-term program, I don’t see the point in moving him to another team in F1, it would be strange.”
Prior to the Turkish GP, there were reports claiming Zhou wanted a three-year deal while Alfa Romeo wanted to give their second driver a one-year deal only.
“That’s a good question, but with Valtteri we have certainly secured the future of the company. I would say a one-year contract is a good option.”
