Antonio Giovinazzi left Formula 1 at the end of the 2021 season. The Alfa Romeo Racing Team removed him instead of the Chinese driver Guanyu Zhou. But Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto is confident that the Italian will be back on the grid in 2023.

Antonio turned out to be a good driver: Ferrari team principal

As reported by Formula Passion, Binotto mentioned that the Italian driver will be working with them in the 2022 season. However, he indicated that he could be back in 2023 due to the expiration of many drivers’ contracts.

“Antonio has proven to be a good driver. For the next season he will have a full program to play in the simulator to update him on the driving style of 2022. Undoubtedly there are other options for him to find a place in 2023, ”said Mattia.

That is why I think it is important that he continues to be part of our Formula 1 program as a reserve, continues to do activities in the simulator and keep him updated on the cars of 2022 Ferrari team principal.

It would be nice to see the Italian in a Formula 1 car again. During his time in Formula 1, he showed a lot of promise and insight into the pace to compete with the best. Hopefully he will get a competitive car when he returns to F1 in 2023.

What are your predictions for Ferrari in 2022? Do you think they can finally challenge Mercedes and Red Bull for the titles?
