"I would have preferred to see him at Alfa Romeo"- F1 safety car driver on Mick Schumacher's breakthrough F1 season

“I would have preferred to see him at Alfa Romeo” – F1 safety car driver on Mick Schumacher’s debut season team of the sport.

Mick Schumacher will make his Formula 1 debut in 2021 as he will celebrate his impressive win in the F2 championship. At the start of the season, however, it was speculated that he would get a seat in Alfa Romeo.

However, the F1 team opted for the current line-up of Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi, undoing Schumacher’s move. On the other hand, Haas has two free places and the German driver should secure a place there.

However, many tended to have Mick take a seat at Alfa Romeo, including current Formula 1 driver Bernd Maylander, who spoke about Schumacher’s possible rookie season next year.

“Haas is a good place to start as a beginner. Personally, I would have preferred to see him at Alfa Romeo because they’re a little closer to Ferrari, but it’s a good start. Günther Steiner is a great person with whom he can build something beautiful, ”says Bernd Maylander to Sport1.de.

The Formula 1 safety car driver is looking forward to seeing the Schumacher name in sport again. “Mick Schumacher in Formula 1 can deliver something very beautiful.”

“If you look at the last few seasons, I have really great faith in Mick. He is at the top of the Formula 2 championship and I think he will win it. He has the potential to be successful in Formula One and he can do great things, ”Maylander concludes.

Possible rookie partnership

Haas, who previously hesitated to set up a rookie line-up, has now admitted that he might be forced to draw one. Sergio Perez made it clear in an earlier interview that he is looking for a big step and a lower order transfer in F1 will not be satisfactory for him.

In addition to Schumacher, Haas only has Callum Ilott and Nikita Mazepin (if his father decides to lose money) to present on the track. But there are also new rumors that Gunther Steiner is making contact with Nico Hülkenberg.

Whatever Haas decides for 2021 will be interesting right now, it’s not even sure whether or not Schumacher will get a seat, although Ferrari will be on their toes to allow it to further improve their prospects.
