
The short one-week break is almost over as the limelight for the Turkey GP will land in the exciting Istanbul Park. Istanbul returned to the F1 calendar in 2020 after hiding most of the 2010s.

And what a comeback it was! The combination of newly laid asphalt and wet weather offered F1 fans a weekend full of tough races on an ice rink. Hence, there were some frowns when F1 spread uncertainty about the return of Istanbul Park in 2021.
Well luck definitely played through the interest of the fans. The Turkish Grand Prix here is against the underlying odds. And we are barely a day away from the press conference. So let’s take a look at the driver pairing. Yes, there are a couple of exciting combinations to look forward to.

How the F1 drivers team up for the Turkish GP press conference
The press conference will take place on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. local time. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll will mate with 2021 title contender, Max Verstappen. Daniel Ricciardo will attend the conference together with his Alpine successor (then Renault) Fernando Alonso.

Haas rookie, Mick Schumacher, will mate with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez will team up with former Red Bull driver Pierre Gasly; The duo are still in an internal battle for a spot alongside Verstappen.

This press meeting will take place later on Friday at 1:00 p.m. local time. And the team bosses from Mercedes, Red Bull, McLaren and Alpine will not take part.
Franz Tost from AlphaTauri, Otmar Szafnauer from Aston Martin and Laurent Mekies from Ferrari will meet for the press conference. Similarly, the other couple includes Frederic Vasseur from Alfa Romeo, Günther Steiner from Haas, and Jost Capito from Williams.

Overall, the preparation for this weekend is exciting enough. And since rain is forecast for Saturday and Sunday, we could repeat the 2020 Turkey GP. But does this year’s event in Istanbul Park live up to sky-high expectations?
