Russell is happy that Hamilton will stay in Formula 1 for at least two years and want to compete with the best.

“It’s always difficult to compare yourself to guys on different teams as we know the cars are so dominant,” Russell told Express Sport exclusively.

“Of course the drivers are so important, but the cars are the biggest power factor right now and hopefully next year all the teams, all the cars will be a lot closer together, I think it’s all relative, really.

“Lewis will still be in great shape and still do an excellent job.

“Everyone also knows that Red Bull has a fantastic car at the moment.
