It’s not an “ideal… situation” for Formula 1 driver Antonio Giovinazzi.
The uncertainty about which seat, if any, he will take for the next season fuels his discomfort.
Will he return to Alfa Romeo?
Or will he become an F1 version of a free agent?

Giovinazzi just doesn’t know.
“Well, it’s not ideal, but this is the situation for me now,” he told formula1.com. “I’ll try to do my best even with this pressure.”
Giovinazzi reportedly has the voice of Scuderia Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto to return to the seat despite his rebellious move at the Turkish Grand Prix on October 10th. However, Alfa Romeo team principal Fred Vasseur has remained silent about the team’s shortlist of available drivers.
Valtteri Bottas is leaving Mercedes and Alfa Romeo Racing is keen to drive him with the right garage mate.
“It’s not easy,” said Giovinazzi, who joined the team full-time in 2019 and still deserves the full trust of the crew.
Every off-season, Giovinazzi seems to wonder about his future.
He still has to stand on a podium in 54 Grand Prix starts in his career. His best result is the fifth, which he achieved five times.
Giovinazzi’s mutiny remains “in the team”
Without the team security, Giovinazzi’s actions in Turkey made it even stranger.
Giovinazzi insisted he was in the points with one lap to go and didn’t follow the coach’s instructions. The team officials wanted Giovinazzi to drop back and give his retired teammate Kimi Raikkonen a chance for a P10.
Giovinazzi did not give in, however.
After being eliminated from the points, things didn’t look good for a driver with a bleak future.
“I think it’s a problem that comes up sometimes and it has happened in the past, but I honestly don’t want to comment on it, I just like to discuss it with the team, within the team,” he said, “but it is not the first time, and the most important thing is that we are fine now, everything is fine. “

Meanwhile, there is another level on Giovinazzi’s concerns. He’s not sure who will lead his current team, even if an invitation to return to the Alfa Romeo No. 99 comes up. Rumors suggest that Andretti Autosport is negotiating the acquisition of the franchise’s F1 assets to begin a full-time schedule for 2022.
Giovinazzi said he’s trying to focus more on what he can control, like his machine, and not think too much about the off-season.
“We’ll see what happens, but it’s out of my control,” he said. “It was always like this for me in September and October.
“I’ve always had problems with what I’m going to do next season, and that’s happening this year too. The problem is out of my hands, so it’s not my choice. What I can do is just deliver the results, be quick and then see what (Alfa Romeo) decides. “
