Do you want an Alfa Romeo that looks a bit like the car Kimi Raikkonen will be driving in F1 this year? Step right this way …
Clean is no longer. For the first time since the early nineties, the famous name is no longer in Formula 1, and it’s up to the team that will be operating under the Alfa Romeo Racing banner in 2019.
Although it’s sad for the Sauber brand to quietly disappear from the top flight of the single-seater race, Alfa Romeo’s return to Formula 1 seems worth celebrating, which is why the Italian company launched a pair of cars for this purpose Has.
What you see are the Alfa Romeo Racing Special Edition versions of the Giulia and the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, each done in a signature red and white paint scheme reminiscent of that of the C38 F1 machine driven by Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi becomes.
The selection of Quadrifoglio versions of the cars seems particularly appropriate, not just because they turn around quickly. The F1 car is powered by a Ferrari V6 turbo, much like these two street cars, each powered by a Ferrari-inspired V6 with a double-turbo layout. That’s close enough, isn’t it?
The Alfa Romeo Racing editions are mechanically identical to the standard Quadrifoglios, but with 503 hp each, they are already fast enough. Together with the Trofeo White / Competizione Red paintwork, you get an Alcantara steering wheel with carbon cladding, an automatic Mopar gear selector, standard carbon-ceramic brakes and an Akrapovič titanium exhaust.
The Giulia also benefits from a bare carbon fiber roof, while both cars have carbon fiber details on the mirrors, front grille and side sills. In terms of equipment, each has been outfitted with tinted windows, adaptive cruise control, a Harmon Kardon audio system and a mobile connectivity system.
The cars will be coming to the UK, although at the time of writing Alfa Romeo UK has not been able to confirm how many or the prices. In view of the additional equipment, a considerable increase compared to the standard Quadrifoglio models can be expected. It may be worth telling your passengers to leave me alone every five minutes, I know what I’m doing.
