With a variety of eye-catching storylines from the Imola race, some impressive accomplishments went unnoticed. Not least that of Kimi Räikkönen from Alfa Romeo F1. The Finn finished in 9th place, but not before a storm of debris struck him as a result of George Russell’s fall with Valtteri Bottas. The Iceman’s radio message summed up the whole scenario pretty well.

Trust Raikkonen to get an accurate picture of the consequences of the crash. The Alfa Romeo driver, who is rarely wrong, brutally honest and for the most part irritable, was the first car to pass the scene of the accident. As such, he was greeted by a great deal of debris that was still swirling around everywhere. Suffice it to say, Raikkonen was not particularly pleased.

He came over the team radio and said, “I’ve been sprayed with all kinds of f ** king sh * t.”
His engineer didn’t really help when he told Kimi that there was a lot of dirt on the track. In fact, his statements received typical “iceman” treatment.
Raikkonen said: “I know because it only happened before me! My car is full of shit. “
That wouldn’t be the only thing ruining Kimi’s mood, however.

After the FIA crossed the checkered flag in P9 to secure a rare result, the FIA would soon put the brakes on all luck. After the climax of the race, they beat Raikkonen with a time penalty of 30 seconds.
This happened due to an incident in Turn 3 shortly before the restart of the race. The Finn had turned his car and lost the track position, but was entitled to regain his place in front of the first safety car line.

However, he did not do so on the orders of the team and retained his position. But under the rules this would mean that Kimi would have to restart the race from the pit lane. However, he did not because neither he nor the team knew about it.
As a result of the penalty, Raikkonen lost his hard-earned points and was downgraded to a P13 finish.
