Epic FIA failure sees Kimi Raikkonen conjured up by F1 stewards before the season begins!

Epic FIA failure sees Kimi Raikkonen conjured up by F1 stewards before the season begins!

It looks like even the FIA can’t get enough of Kimi Raikkonen. The Alfa Romeo driver who is currently shakedowning the newly unveiled C41 in Barcelona could see the shock of his life when he sees the FIA summoned him and his team to Bahrain. The reason? Apparently the “Iceman” broke a rule while testing it on February 23rd.

However, the document blaming Kimi appears to be a massive error by the FIA. Raikkonen wasn’t even in Bahrain. In fact, no team has made it to Bahrain yet, and pre-season testing is not set to begin until March 12th.

It turned out that on February 23, Raikkonen was busy not smiling for the cameras when the team unveiled its driver line-up and their newest machine.

The rule that Kimi allegedly broke is Article 31.6.

Article 31.6 concerns a driver who reduces his speed as soon as the red flag has been waved on the track. It also provides the procedures that must be followed to return to the pit lane.

The whole scenario is made even more fun by the fact that all the details that blame the Finn are incredibly accurate. The time when Raikkonen broke the rule should be 6:36 p.m. and the team and driver should report to the stewards at 2:30 p.m.

The completely innocent Kimi Raikkonen would be more interested in the actual pre-season tests

The Alfa Romeo driver had a tough season last year. Despite a few memorable moments, he only managed to score four points. He would hope this season is far more fruitful, especially as fans believe this could be his last.

The C41, the car Kimi was busy with, definitely looks like a beautiful machine. But only pre-season testing will show how competitive it is. Ferrari, who supplies the Hinwil-based outfit with engines, is optimistic that it has made up for the pace deficit identified last year. This should be positive news for Alfa Romeo. On the other hand, there is only so much that a more powerful engine can do if the chassis does not meet the requirements.

Most likely, however, Kimi would struggle with Haas and Williams cars at the bottom of the grid.

Do you think Raikkonen will make it into the points this year? Let us know in the comments.
