The Finn will leave Mercedes at the end of the year to join Alfa Romeo in 2022. At this point the team could be in new ownership through Andretti Autosport.

In recent weeks it has become apparent that Andretti is looking to acquire Sauber to manage Alfa Romeo’s F1 operations.

Bottas didn’t sign his Alfa Romeo deal until September, saying there was no indication at that point that Sauber’s ownership could change at this point.

“I wasn’t aware of it during the negotiations,” said Bottas. “And to be honest, I don’t know a lot of details as to whether there really is a big chance for it or not.

“But as long as the team still has the right people, the key people who I think can do a great job, that’s the most important thing for me.”

Bottas previously cited Alfa Romeo’s plans for the future as an important factor in his decision to sign a multi-year contract with the Swiss company.

When asked if he would welcome the chance to work with Andretti, Bottas replied: “Why not?

“As a driver for the team in the future, it would of course be nice to find out a little more about your future plans beforehand. But yes, why not? ”
