Frederic Vaseur admitted it was disappointing to miss points again British Grand Prix, With Kimi Raikkonen‘s late spin after minor contact with Sergio Perez end Alfa Romeo Racing ORLENshot into the top ten.

Raikkonen was involved in a close fight with Red Bull race‘s Pérez for the small points, with the two riding side-by-side in a series of corners, but the two touched in the penultimate corner, with the Finn doing worst as he reversed the order.

Antonio Giovinazzi In the end he was the leading Alfa Romeo driver in thirteenth place and Raikkonen in fifteenth, meaning the team remains eighth in the constructors’ championship after the first ten races with just two points.

Alfa Romeo team principal Vasseur says the team continues to close the gap on the leaders but it’s always been a struggle silverstone, a route they would likely find difficult.

“Another race where our good pace got us close to the points but ultimately missed the reward,” said Vasseur. “We got off to a good start, we were able to finish in the top ten both before the stops and at the time of Kimi’s contact with Checo, but in the end we just missed out to stay ahead.

“We continue to close the gap on the leaders, even at a track where we expected to struggle a bit more and that should bode well for other tracks where we can hope to get more out of our package .”
