Alfa Romeo are still not sure if Kimi Raikkonen will be staying with the team for another season in 2022 and are awaiting his decision.
Raikkonen is the most experienced driver in Formula 1 history with 340 entries and 337 starts in a career which first started all the way back in 2001 with Sauber.
The 2007 World Champion returned to his former team ahead of the 2019 season after being let go by Ferrari and has spent the last three campaigns with them.
The question remains: how many more seasons does Kimi have left in him?

It’s a question that has a less certain answer around it given that Raikkonen’s team-mate, Antonio Giovinazzi, has taken somewhat of a step forward in recent months and has already been billed as a potential future team leader for Alfa Romeo.
But, while Alfa Romeo are still waiting to be informed about Raikkonen’s future, there is no such uncertainty when it comes to his motivation for Formula 1 racing.
“I don’t know what his plans are and I cannot speak for him,” Alfa Romeo engineering chief Xevi Pujolar said, as quoted by Grandpx.news.
“But at the moment he has no problem with motivation, he works well with the team, and last week he did a great job in the race.”
Qualifying has been Raikkonen’s biggest area of weakness so far in this 2021 campaign, but there are plans in place to help the 41-year-old on that front.
“We will change a few things to help him in qualifying,” Pujolar added.
“When both cars go into the second session, it helps the team a lot.
“For us, the main priority is to get ahead of Williams in qualifying so that everything can go much better in the race.”
Back to the potential picture for 2022, rumors of a Mick Schumacher move to Alfa Romeo have resurfaced after the son of the seven-time World Champion, Michael, did not rule out a switch from Haas when asked about his 2022 plans ahead of the Styrian Grand Prix.
