Alfa Romeo introduces the new Formula 1 car C41 ahead of the 2021 season

Alfa Romeo unveils new C41 Formula 1 car ahead of 2021 season

At a kick-off event in Warsaw with title sponsor PKN Orlen, Alfa Romeo drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi were on site to remove the covers from the new car for the coming season.

The C41 paint job flipped the color scheme on the rear of the car from last year, made the engine cover white with a red logo, and made the side pods red.

The new car will make its debut on track this Friday in a shakedown at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya before experiencing its first lengthy run-out in pre-season testing on March 12 and 14.

“The introduction of a new car is always an emotional moment, the culmination of months of efforts by everyone in the plant and the beginning of a new adventure,” said team principal Frederic Vasseur.

“I think the philosophy on which the team is based remains the same. We have to do a better job tomorrow than today. We finished last season in P8, so we have to get a better result in 2021. To achieve that.” We have to keep improving in every department, on the side of the track and back at headquarters.

“Every team on the grid currently has very high expectations: all teams expect to do a good job in winter and be in a good position for the first race, but soon it will be time for everyone to show their cards.” . “

Alfa Romeo is entering the 2021 season to recover from a disappointing campaign last year in which Haas and Williams mainly fought him in the Class C battle.

Although the team was able to achieve eighth place in the constructors’ championship as of 2019, the points fell when Raikkonen and Giovinazzi only collected eight points and achieved a race result no more than ninth.

Alfa Romeo was constrained by the poor performance of Ferrari engines last year, but the Italian brand hopes to have the issues resolved before the 2021 season.

Sauber Motorsport, which operates the Alfa Romeo F1 squad outside of Switzerland, is expected to extend its partnership with Ferrari until 2025. The current contract expires at the end of this season.

Alfa Romeo decided to keep Raikkonen and Giovinazzi for 2021, which is their third racing year together.

The duo will again be supported by reserve driver Robert Kubica, as the team retains the title sponsorship of the Polish company PKN Orlen and the unveiling takes place in Warsaw this season.
