Alfa Romeo F1 confused by management about the resignation of CEO Sauber[F1-Gate .com]

Alfa Romeo F1 is in turmoil behind the scenes with the resignation of the Sauber boss.

The Alfa Romeo F1 team is owned and managed by Sauber Motorsport, based in Switzerland. Recently, Sauber Motorsport was interested in selling the team to Michael Andretti.

“It was very disappointing that the deal wasn’t signed,” said Michael Andretti.

“At the time we thought we were literally 48 hours away by the time we signed the contract.”

Michael Andretti doesn’t say what went wrong, but admits there was a “drinkable” contract detail.

Around the same time, Andretti proposed plans that IndyCars top star Colton Herta would replace Antonio Giovinatti as F1 driver in 2022.

Eventually, Alfa Romeo F1 team representative Frederick Vasul also dropped all other candidates to sign a deal with China-backed F2 driver Guanyu Zhou.

Therefore, Pascal Pitch, Chairman of Longbow Finance, Team Owner of Sauber Motorsport, decided to complete the project in full.

“It’s a difficult time for Alfa Romeo,” confirms Roger Benoit, a seasoned journalist who contributed to Blick.

“A month ago, Pascal Pitt resigned because he thought it was enough. He doesn’t want anything more to do with Vasul, ”he said.

Roger Benoit believes Pascal Pitch was also against the deal with Valtteri Bottas.

“Pitch wanted to continue the plans for Sergio Marchionne, who died in 2018, which included a stronger connection between Hinwil and Ferrari with his favorite jobinatti,” said Roger Benoit. Added.

Instead, Frederick Vasul has a deal with Valtteri Bottas, who brought out Mercedes F1, and Guanyu Zhou, a member of the Alpine F1 Academy.
“It is unlikely that Alfa Romeo’s engine partners will like it,” said Roger Benoit.

“It shows that Maranello is becoming less and less influential.”
