Alfa Romeo: 2021 Latest News, Results, Drivers and Car Updates
Although the Italian team joined F1 in 2019, they have a rich history in the sport. The team drove in the opening season of Formula 1. This year they won against Guiseppe Farina.
However, they only stayed until 1951 before leaving the sport as a manufacturer. The Italian marquee returned in 1979 and raced until 1985, though they didn’t have the same level of success.

The 2019 season marked the third time that the Alfa Romeo name returned to Formula 1.
Alfa Romeo started the 2020 season with an unchanged driver line-up. In January 2020, the team announced that it would enter into a title sponsorship agreement with the Polish oil company PKN Orlen and that Robert Kubica would join as reserve driver.
Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi are currently driving for the Hinwil-based outfit.
Success on the track
Alfa Romeo had the privilege of competing in Formula One’s first season and was one of the teams to beat. They even had 10 wins, one of which was shared by Luigi Fagioli and Juan Manuel Fangio.

To date, Fangio’s win in Spain in 1951 is the team’s last win. In the meantime, Ricardo Patrese achieved the team’s final podium in 1984. Since returning, the team’s best position has been 4th and 5th in Brazil 2019.
Unfortunately the team stopped the order this season due to Ferrari’s engine problems. So far, the Swiss team has only scored eight points in the 2020 season.
Alfa Romeo’s sponsors
Alfa Romeo’s title sponsor is PKN Orlen, who recently signed on after leaving Williams F1. Other partners are Carrera, Richard Mille, Hewlett Packard, Mitsubishi, Pirelli and many more.
The Alfa Romeo F1 team is owned by Sauber Motorsport AG, which in turn is owned by the Swiss investment firm Longbow Finance.
