Alfa Romeo joined today the group of teams who have announced the launch date of their 2022 Formula 1 car, with only three teams yet to fix a launch date.
With Red Bull, Williams, and Hass yet to announce when they plan to reveal their 2022 challengers, Alfa Romeo announced today that their new car, the C42, will be launched on February 27, two days after the conclusion of the first pre-season test – now being called a ‘pre-season shakedown’ in Barcelona on February 25.
The team will run their new car in Barcelona with an interim livery, as the official one will be revealed on the online launch event.
Alfa Romeo team statement:
Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN will launch its 2022 contender, the C42, on Sunday, February 27th, 2022.
The new car, the first built by the team for the new Formula One regulations, will be unveiled in its full livery through a digital launch, with images and videos released to the public and media at 9am CET. The launch will be followed, at 9:30am, by an online press conference attended by Team Principal, Frédéric Vasseur; Technical Director, Jan Monchaux; and the team’s drivers, Valtteri Bottas, Guanyu Zhou and Robert Kubica.
A new era is starting: Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN is ready.
Alfa Romeo will be fielding a fully revamped driver lineup for 2022 with Valtteri Bottas coming in from Mercedes to replace the retired Kimi Raikkonen, and Chinese rookie Guanyu Zhou joining the team from Formula 2 to replace the Formula E-bound Antonio Giovinazzi. Robert Kubica remains as the team’s reserve driver.
