The British-Thai driver was promoted from Scuderia Toro Rosso to Red Bull in the middle of the 2019 season and even won the Rookie of the Year award at the end of the season. Despite some occasional convincing performances, the Milton Keynes team decides to drop Albon and replace him with the non-contracted Sergio Perez.
For him, however, things could have gone differently if he hadn’t been involved in a collision with Mercedes drivers a few times while standing on a podium. Now Albon is working closely with the simulators, helping Max Verstappen and Perez to get their car to the perfect location before the race weekend.

Sergio Perez praised Albon after his first win with Red Bull in Baku
Sergio Perez replaced Albon with the Milton Keynes team this season. And after just five races with Red Bull, the Mexican won his first title with his new team at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
He was behind his teammate in P2 for most of the race, but Verstappen, who wanted to win the race, suffered a blown tire and had to give up the race. This paved the way for the Mexican to his first victory after the 2020 Sakhir GP.
Meanwhile, after the race, Perez praised Red Bull’s test driver Albon for helping him with the car.
“He puts so much work into the simulator, together with the engineers. I remember when I came here you wouldn’t have expected him to be so open with me, ”said the Mexican.
