“Ferrari Tend to Fade…”: Lewis Hamilton Given Odd Silver Lining as F1 Victory Faces Unusual Delay

The 2022 F1 season hasn’t been exactly the way Lewis Hamilton would have wanted it to be. After losing the race in Abu Dhabi to Max Verstappen last year, Hamilton was in the same position just after the safety car restarted in Zandvoort. However, a former F1 champion thinks there’s still time for the Mercedes ace to win a race in 2022.

Formula 1 completed its 15th race of the season last weekend. Red Bull star Verstappen came out on top once again and extended his lead over other drivers, including Hamilton. With a few races to go, Damon Hill thinks the Britons still have time to do what is still undone.

Hill told Sky Sports, “There may be opportunities later in the season, I’m sure there will be an opportunity and Lewis’ pace is still there, both of their paces George and Lewis, I think are performing brilliantly as ever and I think Ferrari tends to fade, so we will see what happens.”

“It’s a bit of a tough thing to go from being the most dominant team almost ever in Formula 1 to suddenly not winning a race the following season.”

Hill further asserted, “So that’s almost inconceivable. But the pace is coming, they were more competitive here at Stansport than a few other races, certainly at Spa,” concluded the 1996 F1 Champion.

How is Lewis Hamilton a shadow of himself?

Even though Hamilton and Verstappen were in an all-out war last season, things aren’t pretty good for the Mercedes driver this time around. Hamilton is merely a shadow of him from last season, beating the Ferrari might be the only target for him from here on. Astonishingly, the man from the United Kingdom is still to win a race in 2022.

Hamilton had a total of eight wins last season and 103 in total. For a driver with the most number of wins in F1, a winless drought throughout the 15 races this season means a lot to him and the fans.
